Touring the South

My husband and I just returned from a fantastic vacation to the southeast states of the US. We were on a plan of visiting historical sites related to the Civil War and the Revolutionary War - and other battles in this country's history. We visited several plantations, several forts, other historic homes. Much to our amazement, we accidentally visited Savannah GA on the date of the 100th birthday of the Girl Scouts, which originated in that city. In Nashville, we visited The Hermitage, home of General (President) Andrew Jackson, on his 245th birthday, which included half price admission, a costumed couple representing the president and his wife, and a handshake from the governor of Tennessee who was there to place a wreath on the burial site.

Due to the exceptionally mild winter weather this year, the flowers were blooming early. We saw daffodils in NC on Leap Day, in Savannah and Charleston the camelias were in near peak bloom. Gorgeous pinks, whites, peach colors. By the time we headed back north, the flowering trees were beginning to bloom making our drive through the hills of Kentucky and Tennessee beautiful.

We drove nearly 5,000 miles over a three-week time period and thus I was able to do a lot of knitting and crocheting, some designing. Now I have some writing to do to get the designs to print form and listed in my shops. Watch for a child's jumper, a child's button-up vest, and more hearts.

Thanks for checking in. Keep the needles and hooks moving.
